Account Manager - Houston, Texas

Mueller Water seeks an Account Manager to join our industry-leading sales team. You will be responsible for revenue and profit growth of programs and services in targeted accounts. Using a consultative sales approach, you will build relationships with existing customers by executing system assurance programs that meet their key business needs. With strong account leadership, you will also convert strategic competitive accounts and sell new technologies to current customers.

What You Will Do:

  • Execute strong team leadership by coaching and training other district representatives, championing corporate initiatives, and planning and leading portions of district meetings.
  • Generate and execute sales plans and strategies to close new opportunities within the existing customer base and in major, competitively-held accounts, to meet defined territory profit increase goals.
  • Work closely with large, strategic current and prospective customers to understand business needs and recommend continuous improvement and innovation plans that will maintain and grow sales within the assigned territory.
  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders within current and prospective customers, including plant or facility executives.
  • Engage in problem-solving by performing system analysis, interpreting data, and providing written recommendations to ensure customer operations are performing at optimal levels.
  • Demonstrate the ability to stabilize jeopardy business in large, strategic accounts.

Position Details:

  • Candidates must reside within a commutable distance from Houston, Texas.
  • Territory covers about an 80-mile radius of the surrounding area.
  • Targeted accounts are within the chemical industry.
  • 5% overnight travel required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 5 years of technical sales or field sales support experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Immigration sponsorship is not available for this role.

Physical Requirements:

  • Drive a company vehicle as required to perform job duties (pre-employment and ongoing motor vehicle record checks will determine eligibility to drive a company vehicle).
  • Ability to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (chemical, mechanical, industrial) or life sciences (biology, chemistry, etc.).
  • Experience in the water treatment or specialty chemical industry.
  • Working knowledge of boilers, cooling towers, and wastewater treatment systems.
  • Utilities and/or technical experience preferred.
